Former U.S. Ambassador Michael Ussery is an international business developer who since 1996 has helped lead major investments in Europe and the Mid-East.

Honours and Awards

Michael Ussery was appointed by President Reagan on December 22, 1988 to be U.S. Ambassador to Morocco, at that time the youngest U.S. Ambassador. He was re-appointed by President Bush and confirmed unanimously by the U.S. Senate, at post until January 1992. During the Gulf War, Ambassador Ussery directed the emergency evacuation of 600 Americans and led Embassy Rabat through the intense challenges posed by the war.

In 1988 Ussery was Senior Advisor to Bush-Quayle Campaign in the office of the Campaign Manager where he worked closely with current President Bush. For the 2000 Bush-Cheney Campaign Ussery was volunteer field manager in Arkansas.

Ussery served at U.S. Department of State 1985-88 as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Near Eastern and South Asian Affairs, and simultaneously as Chairman of the twelve-agency Libya Task Force during the U.S.-Libya confrontation.

Education and qualifications

Graduated Newberry College in 1979 and was appointed as a commencement speaker. Began his Washington career (1979 – 81) as Chief of Staff to Congressman Carroll Campbell.

Work Experience

Ussery has served as an advisor to more than 60 major corporations. He is a founder of eight companies and three non-profit organizations. Companies he advised include General Dynamics, Philips Electronics, and The Washington Times.
