Gugushev & Partners Law Office advised SSE Keramik Ltd. on the development, financing, and implementation of a standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 10 MW/40 MWh in Central Bulgaria, a project undertaken by a startup company entering the Bulgarian energy storage market.

The firm conducted legal due diligence covering the full regulatory framework applicable to the project, including environmental permitting, construction requirements, battery storage regulations, grid connection procedures, and operational compliance. The firm's real estate team advised on the establishment of the property rights required for the project site, while the energy team advised on grid access requirements, negotiated with the relevant grid operator, and drafted the grid connection agreement and related project documentation.

The firm structured and negotiated the key project agreements - EPC, battery supply, and operation and maintenance (O&M) contracts, and advised on the legal structure of the project financing, supported negotiations with financing institutions, and reviewed the financing and security documentation.
